Make It Monday #18: Texture With Tissue

This week my Mojo has been drowned out in the cicada shrieking we are experiencing here (hatching of the 13-year Magicicada brood).  I did however finally manage to scrape up enough to create an entry for the Make It Monday series at Papertrey Ink.  This week's Make It Monday is all about using tissue paper to create texture on a card.  (On Splitcoaststampers, look for the Faux Silk technique.)  Here's my card:

The tiny strawberries in PTI's Vintage Picnic set were used to create background paper, colored in with Copics, run through a Xyron to put adhesive on the front, then white tissue was crinkled and laid on top. Used the Cuttlebug to press it down.  The other strawberries and sentiment were stamped on Inchies and framed with Spellbinders Classic Scalloped Square Large die (smallest size).  The scalloped border was from a Stampin Up border punch, the lace was from my stash of lacemaking supplies (it is used to make Battenberg Lace), and the jewels are Jolee's hotfix Swarovski crystals (can't see the sparkle--looks much better in real life).  The background paper is from DCWV stack Citrus;  I like it because it looks like blue jean material.  The whole card seemed to have a slightly vintage look to me.

Hope you like it!

  3. Very bright and summery, as it's that time of year for you in the Northern hemisphere. You are right, it does look like denim and so effective. Haven't had a chance to look at this challenge yet, still trying to get my head around the 2 for Waltzingmouse. As usual a brilliant job, Cyndie.

  4. This card is great!! I love the pairing of the background paper (it does look like jeans!!) with the softness of the tissue paper! Also- it's great to see the contrast of the same colors under and above the tissue!
